Brunswick

Brunswick is a city in Maine, Cumberland, on the Androscoggin River. It is part of the Portland-South Portland-Biddeford metropolitan area.

It is situated off the Atlantic coast in the eastern part of Cumberland and is only about 19 miles northeast of Portland. In the north, Brunswick borders on the Merrymeeting Bay, into which the Kennebec River flows from the north. There are several bays to the south, all of which belong to the Gulf of Casco.

The city is connected to the highway network via Interstate 295. US Highway 1 and US Highway 201 also run through the urban area. The Portland - Rockland, Brunswick - Skowhegan, and Brunswick - Lewiston railways connect the rail network. Passenger rail transport is offered during the summer months from Brunswick to Rockland by sightseeing trains. In long-distance traffic, there is a daily connection to Portland (Maine) and Boston.

The well-kept and subsidized Brunswick School Department, which includes Brunswick High School, is responsible for an excellent education in the city. Bowdoin College is also located here.

The city significantly focuses on art and culture. Places and events worth mentioning include the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum, and the Maine State Music Theater.

Brunswick is home to the Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum, dedicated to the memory of the Union's war hero, Governor Maines, and Bowdoin College President Joshua L. Chamberlain. Due to its historical value, the Pennellville Historic District is also worth visiting.
