Freeport is a city in Cumberland County, Maine. It is located on the shores of Casco Bay near the Maine Desert and Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park. There are smaller lakes in the city; Florida Lake is located in the north of the town. Smaller streams pass through the area, all of which flow into Casco Bay.
The city is located on US Highway 1 and is accessible via Interstate 295. Freeport is also connected to the rail network via the Downeaster.
The Harraseeket Historic District includes Mast Landing, Portera Landing, and South Freeport and several sites around the Harraseeket River. South Freeport contains mostly Revival buildings dating from the shipbuilding boom in the mid-18th century.
Freeport is part of Regional School Unit # 5. Becky Foley is the Superintendent. The access to good education, utility infrastructure, and recreation places makes Freeport an excellent choice for living.
